TAKE-A-WAY: Back to the Mindset of Winning...Consider what "winning" means to you. If you don't know what you want, you won't know what to strive toward or what you'll need to get
there. If you've not thought about this, it's possible you might be stuck in the same trap I once was too -- buying stuff, hoping for happiness or some feeling you haven't identified, but never getting there.
Take a bit of time to ponder this - it'll serve you
well.
What is Money?
Most of us have a pretty good handle on what we think money is.
It buys us stuff.
It's a medium of exchange.
It's a promise of value.
But, what it is
really?
I've come to learn that money is TIME.
For money to be valuable to us all, it must share a common value. If it didn't, it would be really tough to exchange, since everyone has different values. If money could only be exchanged for antique furniture, pickle-ball rackets and crystal figurines, I'd have no use for it, since I'm not interested in those things.
Thankfully, money has a Universal Value - that value is TIME.
In college, I once took a "rubber course" on Logic (little did I know, this course had far more utility to
my life than many other "core" curriculum).
There's a Logic principle called, "transitive property." Here's what it looks like...
Money = Time
Time = Value
>> Money = Value
We exchange our Time to acquire Money.
Money is an exchange of our Time, regardless of what we use it to purchase.
And, because Time
is our most precious resource, we (should) value Money tremendously (and consider how we spend it).
Notice how we both spend Time and Money? They're the same!
Once you understand this, you'll understand how to use it more effectively.
Wouldn't it make sense to spend your Money (Time) on
things that can affect Time?
• Buy a vacation to ENHANCE your TIME.
• Buy an experience to ENHANCE your TIME.
• Buy a tool to CREATE more TIME. (shameless ChiroSimple plug 😊, signup below)
• Buy something healthy to EXTEND your TIME.
TAKE-A-WAY: Once you start seeing your Money as Time, you'll be amazed what happens when you're decided HOW to spend it.
What's going on here?
Dr. Amanda (our ChiroSimple co-founder) spends a considerable amount of her time (and money) on running gear and indulgently-overpriced vegan donuts. This weekend, she'll be running
a mountain-marathon (26.2 miles with elevation, on mountain trails) in preparation for her mountain ultra-marathon (31 miles with extreme elevation, on mountain trails) in 3-weeks.
Her go-to fuel before her races are...DONUTS! 4-to be exact. Are you kidding me? Nope. Pictured below
is the actual bakery she gets these from. Of course, they're gluten free and vegan, which makes them healthy (nope!).
If you ever have the pleasure of watching her eat these, you'll quickly identify how much bliss this brings her and how exchanging her money for them is worth every
penny.
