Hello again amazing animal providers 🙂
Â
I don’t know about you but for me one of the hardest struggles in practice is honestly establishing good working relationships with other professionals.Â
Â
I found that taking time away from the office to go up to other professionals' offices to hand out pamphlets with information about animal chiropractic was a legitimate waste of time.Â
Â
I hardly ever got to speak to the actual veterinarian and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the front office staff filed my stuff in the 86 file immediately upon me leaving. Haha
Â
The idea of setting up a designated meeting time with another professional was also exhausting because trying to coordinate schedules of two working professionals was a nightmare. I work part-time, have 3 kids and a funny, I mean, mini farm at home.Â
Â
So instead I decided to create relationships naturally and this has served me well.Â
Â
What did I do?
Â
I took my animals in for wellness checkups.Â
Â
Seems ridiculous right? But that’s how I started an organic relationship with different vets. I have dogs, cats, alpacas and chickens so I go to different vets because of the fact that not all vets see livestock.
Â
This blossomed into natural relationships over time as I discussed my natural (often referred to as hippie dippie) methods and approach to healthcare with my animals and this actually piqued the interest of several doctors to which I explained more and began to get their interest as to what I did for a profession as
well.Â
Â
One vet told me something that really resonated with me. She said, “I don’t recommend natural approaches because I don’t know enough about them and I’m only going to suggest things I feel comfortable and confident in suggesting.” I 100% understand and agree with her stance. And so I made it my mission to make sure
she knew that if she ever had questions or wanted to learn more about natural approaches that I was here and available to help her with that. This doesn’t mean that I’m suggesting you take time out of your day to host free clinics on holistic approaches but it does mean that you can make suggestions on where you learned so they could do the same.
Â
I have better working relationships with these professionals because they’ve gotten to know a little more about what I do and how it can benefit them just by stepping into their world to start the conversation.Â
Â
So I encourage you to start the conversations. You never know where they’ll lead you.Â
In health,Â
